Not being a Retailer at Christmas – Joyful!!

For the last 16 Christmases, from November onwards, I’ve suffered from “Retailer at Christmas anxiety syndrome”!  It really is a scary time – your stock levels are at their annual peak, bringing with them huge financial commitments; there’s just a few short weeks to reduce the stock and get the cash flowing, before the Spring collections start arriving, and need paying for.  We always brought in the earliest possible deliveries, with Stone Island, Armani Jeans, Nudie Jeans, Evisu and a few other brands having Spring stock available Pre-Christmas.

Christmas has never been cancelled, and we were always happy with the results, but the build-up is pretty gruelling for most retailers, particularly self-financed independents.  This year it’s really relaxing to watch the industry with no reliance on Christmas trade.  It must be particularly scary for some, as trade this year is to an extent at the mercy of the weather, which has already caused huge damage in certain areas.

One thing is for certain, the sales and designer discounts are going to be excellent for the customer this year – check out some of the best, as they appear, Right Here!
